In response to a distressing incident, the Osun State Government has initiated an investigation into the hospitalization of approximately 18 pupils from James Primary School B, Osogbo.
The pupils reportedly fell ill after consuming a mid-day meal provided under the state's free school feeding program. Governor Ademola Adeleke swiftly directed a halt to further food preparation at the affected school pending the outcome of the investigation.
The affected students have already received medical treatment, and the government is settling their medical bills. The incident, causing panic among parents, led to calls for a thorough investigation to prevent future occurrences.
The government is also enforcing food standards and auditing the O-Meal program structure.
