IPoB has rejected the second Biafra declaration in Finland, calling it a "joke" led by content creators. The group distanced itself from the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful independence through a democratic referendum. They also stressed Biafra’s land includes 13 Nigerian states.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) has distanced itself from the recent second Biafra declaration made in Finland. The group condemned the event, describing it as a mere spectacle organized by individuals they categorize as "content creators." According to IPoB, this declaration, which took place under the banner of the so-called Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), is an attempt to tarnish the organization's genuine pursuit of an independent Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In an official statement, IPoB dismissed the gathering in Finland as an inconsequential event and criticized the involvement of faceless online personalities and groups like PANDEF and some factions in Igala. These groups had distanced themselves from the Biafra movement, which IPoB labeled as politically motivated and "pathetic."
Furthermore, IPoB emphasized the territorial extent of the ancient Igbo land, which spans 13 Nigerian states, and reiterated that the creation of Nigeria's state boundaries has been detrimental to the integrity of Igbo heritage. The group stated that it would continue to challenge this distortion of history.
IPoB also reiterated its commitment to peaceful, democratic self-determination and called for a United Nations-supervised referendum to decide Biafra's future. The organization stressed that no group would be forced to join Biafra and that leadership positions in the future Biafran government would be determined by the will of the people through democratic elections.
