JAMB has ruled out any extension for the 2025 UTME registration deadline, emphasizing that the process has been smooth and efficient. Over 782,000 candidates have registered, and authorities expect all applicants to complete the process on time. Underage and unqualified candidates are also addressed in the latest update.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its stance on not extending the registration deadline for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The registration period, which runs from February 3 to March 3, is expected to accommodate about two million candidates across accredited centers nationwide.

During an inspection of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in Lagos, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, expressed satisfaction with the registration process. He noted that over 782,000 candidates had already completed their registration, with daily figures surpassing 80,000.

Oloyede highlighted that the process has been smoother than in previous years, attributing the success to improved technology and efficient coordination. He emphasized that the current pace suggests all interested candidates will register within the stipulated time frame, eliminating the need for an extension.

Addressing concerns about underage candidates, he acknowledged that while the official university admission age is 16, exceptionally gifted students are still allowed to register. Additionally, candidates without complete O’Level results but wishing to familiarize themselves with the exam format can also take the test.

He further warned candidates against falling victim to fraudulent individuals claiming to offer special registration privileges. According to him, registration can only be done at accredited centers, ensuring transparency in the process.

With JAMB maintaining a strict deadline, prospective candidates are urged to complete their registration promptly to avoid last-minute issues.
