The Digest:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged candidates and parents to raise concerns if they believe they have been unfairly denied admission despite meeting UTME requirements. Registrar Ishaq Oloyede said the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) has made the admission process "transparent and merit-driven." He noted that many parents still resort to illegal means, insisting such practices are no longer necessary. Oloyede also revealed that since CAPS was introduced in 2017, there has been no reported system failure.
Key Points:
- CAPS allows candidates to track and challenge admission decisions.
- JAMB has strengthened verification for Direct Entry admissions.
- 77 fraudulent cases were caught this year, with more prevented.
- Some candidates presented fake foreign degrees disowned by institutions.
- Oloyede says parents should trust the transparent system.
