Jose Mourinho is set to join Fenerbahce on a two-year deal, with an option to extend until 2027. The former Roma coach aims to revive the Turkish club's fortunes and guide them through the Champions League qualifiers, marking a significant move in his illustrious managerial career.

Jose Mourinho is set to sign a two-year contract with Fenerbahce after verbally agreeing to become the head coach of the Turkish Super Lig team. The agreement, which includes an option to extend his stay until the summer of 2027, is currently being finalized, although Mourinho has yet to arrive in Istanbul.

Fenerbahce, despite achieving 99 points and losing only once in the Super Lig this season, finished second to their city rivals Galatasaray. This outcome led to the departure of head coach Ismail Kartal. Mourinho sees this new role as an exciting challenge, particularly as Fenerbahce will enter the Champions League at the second qualifying round next season.

The Istanbul-based team is one of the most successful in Turkish football history but has not claimed the league title since 2014. Mourinho's appointment aims to end this title drought and elevate the team's performance on the European stage.

Mourinho has been without a managerial position since his dismissal from Roma in January, after two-and-a-half years with the club. Throughout his illustrious career, the 61-year-old has won 21 major honors, managing top clubs such as Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Roma. Notably, he remains the only manager to have won the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

In March, Mourinho hinted at his future plans while attending the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, expressing his desire to return to management under the right conditions. His new role at Fenerbahce will reunite him with Fred, a midfielder Mourinho signed during his tenure at Manchester United in 2018.

Mourinho’s move to Fenerbahce is anticipated to rejuvenate the squad and bring much-needed success, both domestically and in Europe, as they aim to reclaim their position at the pinnacle of Turkish football.
