Felix Tshisekedi, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has appointed Judith Suminwa as the nation’s first female prime minister, marking a historic milestone. Suminwa, who previously held the position of minister of state for planning, brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
With a background in project management, governance, and budget processes gained from her tenure at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Budget, Suminwa aims to address the pressing challenges facing the DRC, including escalating conflicts and the mismanagement of mineral wealth.
Her appointment comes amidst Tshisekedi's victory in the December elections and signals a commitment to promoting gender equality and driving forward the nation's development agenda.
