Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been confirmed as Nigeria's Chief Justice (CJN) following a Senate approval. In her confirmation hearing, she emphasized her firm stance against corruption, asserting that it will not be tolerated under her leadership. She also highlighted that all pre-election disputes will be settled at the Court of Appeal.

Justice Kekere-Ekun was confirmed after acting in the role since August, succeeding Justice Olukayode Ariwoola upon his retirement. The confirmation came after President Bola Tinubu submitted a formal request to the Senate.

During her screening, which lasted around two hours, she was accompanied by other high-ranking judicial figures. Senators engaged her in discussions on various topics, including judicial reforms and the use of technology to enhance the speed and efficiency of the justice system.

As the country’s 23rd substantive CJN and only the second woman to hold this position, Justice Kekere-Ekun also reassured the public that she would prioritize the judiciary's independence, ensuring it remains free from external influence.
