The Kaduna State Government has reunited 39 formerly detained minors with their families, providing each child with N100,000 and a smartphone. Governor Uba Sani’s administration pledged rehabilitation and support, including skills training, startup funds, and employment opportunities to help them reintegrate and build positive futures.

The Kaduna State Government has reunited 39 minors, previously detained by federal authorities, with their families, celebrating their return with a gift of N100,000 and an Itel A18s smartphone for each child. In a symbolic ceremony held at Children’s Homes in Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani expressed a commitment to support the reintegration of these youths into society.

Representing the governor, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, Secretary to the State Government, outlined plans to help these young people rebuild their lives. The government intends to assist those with completed tertiary education by offering skills training, startup capital, and, where possible, employment opportunities. The assistance provided will be monitored, with benefits contingent on good behavior and positive progress.

Each child underwent medical evaluations and received psychosocial counseling to aid in their personal and social reintegration. Religious leaders from Islamic and Christian communities spoke to the children about the importance of maintaining faith and avoiding negative influences. Additionally, Meyere explained that the children were given new phones as a gesture of goodwill, as they had lost their devices during detention.

Governor Sani emphasized that this support aims to empower the youth and encourage them to become productive, law-abiding citizens.
