The Kaduna State Government bans unverified protests after deadly demonstrations in August 2024. Criminals disguised as protesters are exploiting these events to loot and cause chaos. The government stresses that while citizens' rights are protected, unauthorized protests will not be tolerated to ensure public safety and prevent further violence.

The Kaduna State Government has announced a ban on protests that have not been cleared by security agencies, following deadly demonstrations in early August 2024.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated that recent protests in Kaduna and Zaria were exploited by criminals posing as protesters to commit acts of vandalism, looting, and violence.

The government stressed that while it upholds citizens' constitutional rights to freedom of expression and assembly, any unverified protests remain prohibited to prevent further unrest.

The government warned that individuals planning to use protests as a cover for criminal activities would face severe consequences. Additionally, it was revealed that intelligence reports indicated criminals are recruiting vulnerable individuals, including children, to further their agenda.

Citizens were urged to comply with the existing curfew from 6 pm to 8 am and report any suspicious activities to security forces.

The government’s stance is clear: it will act decisively against any threats to the peace and security of the state, ensuring that order is maintained and that the safety of law-abiding citizens is prioritized.
