A Kaduna teenager, David Jonah, was sentenced to 30 days in prison for stealing a he-goat valued at ₦65,000. Jonah pleaded guilty to charges of trespass and theft at a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Inspector Chidi Leo reported that the theft occurred on November 29 when Jonah entered the complainant’s property while the owner, Samson John, was at the farm. A neighbor caught Jonah leaving with the goat and reported him to the authorities. The charges were based on the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel sentenced Jonah but offered him the option of paying a ₦10,000 fine. The court also issued a stern warning to Jonah, advising him to focus on education or learn a trade, as future offenses would result in harsher penalties.
