She claimed Felix Stephen subjected her to long hours of intercourse, even when distressed. The court has adjourned the case for reconciliation, urging both parties to maintain peace.
A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has filed for divorce from her husband, Felix Stephen, at a Kaduna Customary Court, citing his excessive sexual demands and physical abuse. In her petition, Linda explained that her husband's insatiable sexual urges, which often lasted from midnight until dawn, became unbearable. Despite her distress, Felix allegedly continued with the acts, even when Linda was in tears. She claimed that she had moved out of their home three months ago but faced continued pressure from his relatives to return, not fully understanding the emotional toll she was enduring.
Linda further accused Felix of physical abuse, stating that he resorted to violence when she refused his advances, including beating her in front of their two children. Felix admitted to his actions, expressing regret and asking the court to give him a chance to change. He also revealed that he had sought the help of his relatives in an attempt to reconcile with Linda, but she refused to return.
Judge John Dauda presided over the case and adjourned the matter until May 6, allowing time for reconciliation efforts. He encouraged both parties to remain peaceful during this period as they work towards a resolution.
