Tragedy struck the family of Kano State Commissioner of Higher Education, Yusuf Kofar-Mata, as his residence in the Kofar-Mata metropolis caught fire early Wednesday. The blaze claimed the lives of his daughter, Maimuna, elder sister Khadija, and brother's wife, Juwairiyya.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with extensive damage reported. The commissioner expressed deep sorrow, announcing funeral prayers for the deceased today at Kofar-Mata quarters, Kano City.
