The Kano High Court has adjourned the emirship tussle involving Aminu Bayero to July 4. Previously, the court restrained Bayero from parading as the Emir of Kano and ordered police to control the Nassarawa palace pending the suit's resolution.

A high court in Kano has adjourned the hearing of the emirship dispute to July 4. In May, the court had restrained Aminu Bayero from parading himself as the Emir of Kano pending the suit's determination. Additionally, the police were ordered to take control of the Nassarawa palace where Bayero had been staying since his return to Kano following his dethronement.

This ruling was made by Amina Aliyu, the presiding judge, after an ex parte application filed by Ibrahim Isa Wangida, counsel to the applicants. The applicants in the case include the attorney-general of Kano, the speaker, and the Kano house of Assembly, while the respondents are Aminu Bayero, Nasiru Ado Bayero, Ibrahim Abubakar II, Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, the inspector-general of police, the director of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Army.

During Tuesday's proceedings, Eyitayo Fatogun, counsel to the applicants, informed the court that he received five processes from the first respondent on July 1 at 6:30 pm. Fatogun requested a 30-minute stand down to serve the respondent with responses. However, Abdul Muhammed, counsel to Bayero, opposed this request and sought an adjournment to reply and file all applications. Consequently, the presiding judge adjourned the case to Thursday for the hearing of all pending applications and originating motions.
