The Kano Hisbah Board has arrested a couple for conducting their marriage ceremony at a restaurant without parental consent. Mujahideen Abubakar, the deputy commander general of operations, confirmed that Hisbah operatives raided the venue following a tip-off.

The couple is currently in custody as authorities investigate the incident and attempt to locate witnesses. According to Abubakar, the wedding was arranged by the groom’s friends, disregarding key Islamic marriage requirements. He emphasized that the board is committed to enforcing Shari’ah law and will take action against those who undermine it. Many guests reportedly fled the scene when Hisbah personnel arrived, prompting a manhunt for those involved.

The Kano Hisbah Board, responsible for upholding Islamic moral codes in the state, has a history of enforcing strict regulations, including banning mannequins, destroying alcoholic beverages, and arresting individuals found in violation of religious laws.
