Kano Police deploy additional security to Emir Sanusi and deposed Emir Bayero's palaces amid escalating tensions. Sanusi's recent reinstatement and legal disputes have sparked unrest, prompting proactive measures. Police assert readiness to maintain order despite state directives regarding palace occupancy changes.

In response to escalating tensions surrounding the emirship in Kano State, the Kano Police Command has deployed additional security operatives to the palaces of Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, and Aminu Bayero, the deposed Emir. Usaini Gumel, Kano's Commissioner of Police, emphasized that the deployment aims to preempt any potential unrest at the palaces in Kofar Kudu and Nassarawa LGA.

The move follows recent events including police intervention to displace local guards at Sanusi's palace. Tensions have mounted since Sanusi's reinstatement as Emir, overturning Bayero's dethronement by state authorities in May 2024. The Kano House of Assembly's amended bill, signed by Governor Abba Yusuf, repealed a previous law dividing the Kano emirate, pivotal in Sanusi's 2020 removal.

Despite a federal court nullifying state actions in the emirship dispute, it upheld the legality of the emirate law. Meanwhile, the Kano Police Command indicated non-compliance with the state government's directive to evict Bayero from the Nassarawa palace, where he relocated post-Sanusi's reinstatement.
