A Kano High Court has slated April 17, 2024, as the date for the arraignment of the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alongside his wife and six others.
The charges against them involve an array of allegations, including dollar bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds amounting to $413,000 and N1.38 billion. Among the respondents named in the writ of summons are Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.
The Kano State Government has stated that it will present 15 witnesses in the criminal case. Justice Usman Na’aba of State High Court number four will preside over the matter. Haruna Isah Dederi, the State Attorney General, confirmed the development, emphasizing the importance of accountability and justice.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano recently expressed his commitment to investigating Ganduje, citing the need to uphold integrity and address misconduct within the state.
