A tragic road accident claimed the lives of at least 14 people on Friday at Imawa town along the Zaria-Kano highway in Kura LGA, Kano state. The incident was confirmed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state. According to Abdullahi, the accident occurred when a truck with the registration number MKA 537 XN lost control and struck pedestrians who had just finished Friday prayers.

“We received a distress call at about 01:50 pm on June 28, 2024. Upon receiving the information, we promptly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the accident scene,” Abdullahi said. The FRSC is dedicated to ensuring road safety and urges all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies.

The sector commander expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
