Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has declared there is "no going back" on the enforcement of FAAN's cashless policy across major airports, revealing President Tinubu has given him a strict deadline. Speaking during an on-the-spot assessment at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Keyamo stated: "At the last Federal Executive Council meeting, Mr. President gave me a deadline. He was very clear. The moment Mr. President pushes me, I will also push those under me. Before Mr. President sacks me, I will sack other people too." He emphasized that the current hybrid system—allowing limited cash payments alongside cashless cards, is temporary, as full automation is inevitable. "It breeds corruption for us to continue to collect cash. I will not allow it. It has been happening for the last 50 years... people are used to that corrupt system." FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku also inspected the Lagos airport rollout, noting smooth traffic flow but acknowledging more sensitization needed for first-time users.
