In a press briefing following this week's Federal Executive Council meeting, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed that the fate of the Nigeria Air Project lies in the hands of President Bola Tinubu.
Amidst six months of dormancy since the elaborate celebration of the arrival of its first aircraft, new details about the contract have surfaced. Keyamo raised concerns about the deal with major stakeholder Ethiopian Airlines, pointing to issues such as tax waivers and staffing arrangements that could potentially create a monopoly in Nigeria's aviation industry. The Minister emphasized that all documents and reports have been forwarded to the President for consideration, acknowledging the concerns raised by the National Assembly and other stakeholders.
The Nigeria Air Project, founded in 2018, faces uncertainties as critical details undergo reevaluation, leaving its operational status hanging in the balance
