Chukwudimeme Evans, a notorious kidnapper, has repented and applied for a plea bargain. His lawyer revealed Evans' transformation, studying at the National Open University and excelling in exams while in prison. The defense proposes him as an ambassador against crime, educating youths in schools across Lagos.

In a court session on January 29, 2025, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, better known as Evans, pleaded not guilty to five counts of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. His lawyer, Emefo Etudo, informed Justice Adenike Coker of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja that Evans had repented from his criminal activities. According to Etudo, Evans had applied for a plea bargain through the Lagos State Attorney-General’s office, seeking mercy.

Etudo emphasized that Evans, who is now a 200-level student at the National Open University, had demonstrated remorse for his past actions. He excelled in his NECO exams while in prison, achieving straight A’s. His legal team also mentioned that Evans had been actively engaged in reformation, supported by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Federal Government, which awarded him a scholarship.

The defense team proposed that Evans could serve as an ambassador against crime, visiting schools to educate young people about the dangers of criminal activities. The state prosecutor, Y.A. Sule, confirmed receipt of the plea bargain application, adding that the authorities would review it. Justice Coker adjourned the case to March 20 for a potential trial.

After the court session, Etudo told reporters that Evans had undergone significant reformation and expressed confidence that his client had transformed into a changed man.
