Gunmen have kidnapped Joshua Rogers, a Channels TV reporter, from his home in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers state, as reported by Punch. Rogers, who had covered the inauguration of a healthcare facility donated by former Governor Peter Odili, was returning home when abducted. Joseph Johnson, Rivers commissioner for information, claimed ignorance of the incident, despite interacting with Rogers at the event.
Grace Iringe-Koko, police spokesperson in Rivers, declined to comment on the abduction. The abductors have allegedly demanded N30 million ransom from the journalist's family. This incident highlights the security challenges faced by journalists in the region, raising concerns about their safety while carrying out their duties.
