The Kogi State Government has reported three "assassination" attempts on Governor Yahaya Bello, raising concerns that these incidents are part of a plot to portray the state as unsafe before the upcoming November 11 governorship election. The attacks, carried out by individuals dressed in military uniforms, targeted the governor's convoy on the Lokoja-Abuja highway. These assailants began shooting at the governor's vehicle and other convoy vehicles. The last attack occurred near Kwali Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory. Thankfully, swift intervention by the governor's security personnel thwarted their attempts.
Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, expressed that the Kogi State Government had documented these attacks at security offices, both in the state and nationally, for further investigation.
The government suspects that certain individuals aim to undermine the state's security to create chaos before the upcoming election, but they remain committed to ensuring the safety of their citizens.
The government urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies. They emphasized their dedication to maintaining the peace and security enjoyed by the state in recent years, despite the threat of violent politics
