Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso accuses opposition of distracting Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a year with unnecessary legal battles. Despite these challenges, Yusuf's efforts in improving education are evident.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused opposition parties in Kano of hindering Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s efforts over the past year.

Kwankwaso made these remarks during the declaration of a State of Emergency on education in Kano State.

Kwankwaso lauded Governor Yusuf's achievements despite the challenges he faced. He noted that from the start of his administration, Yusuf's impact has been visible throughout Kano State.

However, he pointed out that opposition parties distracted the governor by contesting his election victory in various courts, including the Tribunal, Appeal Court, and Supreme Court. Kwankwaso asserted that these legal battles were unwarranted as Yusuf's win was clear and widely acknowledged.

“Immediately after the election, enemies of the state took him to court even though everyone knew he won fairly,” Kwankwaso stated. He added that some opponents aimed to seize power by force, believing they had governmental support. Despite these disruptions, Kwankwaso emphasized that the governor continued his work undeterred.

Drawing on his own experience, Kwankwaso recounted similar distractions during his second term as Kano State governor, when Boko Haram attacks targeted various public places. He underscored the necessity of staying focused and resilient in leadership roles.

The declaration of a State of Emergency on education is a significant initiative in Governor Yusuf’s tenure, aimed at addressing pressing issues in Kano's educational sector. Kwankwaso’s remarks highlight the support within the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement for Yusuf's policies and efforts.
