Rabiu Kwankwaso, former NNPP presidential candidate, vows to reduce APC's influence in Kano by ensuring they secure fewer than 15,000 votes in 2027. In response, the APC criticized Kwankwaso for his political stance, urging him to focus on reclaiming his NNPP membership rather than challenging the party’s strength in Kano.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), expressed confidence that his party would reduce the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s influence in Kano State. He stated that his goal is to ensure that APC secures fewer than 15,000 votes in the region by 2027.
Kwankwaso made this declaration during a meeting with NNPP delegates from Kano North at his residence. He acknowledged the party's success in the 2023 elections, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) struggled to get only 15,000 votes in Kano. He urged his supporters to stay focused on the party’s long-term goals.
In response, the Kano APC has criticized Kwankwaso for his statements, advising him to focus on reclaiming his membership within the NNPP rather than making ambitious claims against the APC. The APC's state chairman, Abdullahi Abass, mocked Kwankwaso's political trajectory, accusing him of being a political "refugee" after his exit from the PDP and NNPP. Abass reassured APC supporters, emphasizing that the party would continue to hold strong in the state and thwart Kwankwaso's influence.
