Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) rallied in support of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amid the political turmoil in the state.
The solidarity march, held in Port Harcourt, also included students, youths, civil society organizations, labor unions, and members of the Hausa community.
The demonstration followed President Bola Tinubu's recent intervention in the power struggle between the past governor, Nyseom Wike, and Fubara, resulting in significant political unrest.
The feud led to the defection of 27 lawmakers from the PDP to the APC, triggering an impeachment notice against the governor and resignations of pro-Wike commissioners.
However, a resolution appears to have been achieved after Tunubu's meeting with the conflicting parties, bringing a temporary halt to the crisis.
