Seyi Tinubu’s potential bid for the 2027 Lagos governorship election has received a major boost, with a coalition of Igbo youth organizations throwing their weight behind him. The endorsement, announced at a gathering in Victoria Island, Lagos, signals growing political alignment ahead of the crucial election.

The Lagos State Igbo Youth Organizations (LASIYO), an umbrella body representing multiple Igbo youth groups, praised Tinubu’s track record in youth empowerment, education, and infrastructure development. Obioma Andrew O, LASIYO’s president, described Tinubu as a visionary leader committed to the state’s progress.

“Seyi Tinubu has demonstrated leadership qualities that resonate with the aspirations of Lagos residents. His commitment to inclusive governance and economic growth makes him the right candidate,” he stated.

The group highlighted Tinubu’s youth-focused initiatives, which have already benefited over 1,000 young people across Lagos, and emphasized how his infrastructure policies could drive a 20% economic boost.

With influential Igbo community leaders attending the endorsement event, the support from this bloc could significantly impact Tinubu’s political standing. The development comes amid wider political maneuvering within Lagos APC, as various factions position themselves for 2027.

LASIYO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting candidates focused on development, transparency, and unity, arguing that Tinubu’s leadership could bring lasting transformation to Nigeria’s economic hub.

As the 2027 race gains traction, Tinubu’s growing acceptance among Lagos' diverse electorate could redefine the state’s political landscape.
