Police claim of rescuing Fouani brothers debunked; community found them in Lagos creek, raising questions about official reports.

The Lagos police command’s initial claim of rescuing the Fouani brothers from abduction has been refuted by reliable sources, revealing a different narrative. According to insiders at The Peoples Gazette, the brothers were abandoned by their captors near Orugbo Waterside in Epe, where local community members discovered and brought them to the palace of the Oloja of Epe.

The police were alerted early the next morning and took custody of the Fouanis from the palace. It remains uncertain whether the Nigerian Navy was involved in the rescue operation as initially reported. Furthermore, the circumstances surrounding any potential ransom payment to the bandits remain unclear.

The Fouani brothers, along with two Nigerian nationals, were unharmed and eventually escorted back to their residence at Ocean Parade Towers Banana Island by the police. had earlier alerted authorities to the brothers' presence at Ebute-Oriba in Epe, questioning the discrepancy between the police's rescue claim and the community's involvement in their recovery.

This incident has raised questions about the accuracy of official police statements, and Nigerians on social media are slamming the police for lack of transparency and alleged dishonesty.
