During a board meeting of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) in Surulere, Lagos, the Executive Board voted 5-4 in favor of suspending its Chairman, Hon. Fouad Oki. Several grounds contributed to Oki's suspension:
- Non-attendance at the NFF Congress without explanation or the knowledge of the LSFA Board.
- Unilateral change of the Association Logo without approval from the Board and the Congress.
- Denying the Nigerian Professional League (NPFL) A1 Camera delegates access to test-run the A1 camera before the league's commencement.
- Complete disregard for NFF instructions regarding NPFL rules and regulations, particularly concerning branding and match streaming by Sporting Lagos FC, an affiliate.
- Unauthorized release of match day logistics for the 2023/2024 NNL SEASON to NNL Clubs.
- Strained relations with the Lagos State Sports Commission over facility usage, damaging a previously positive relationship.
- Delaying and canceling several youth tournaments, recreational football, and threatening teams to move out of Lagos.
- Initiating an attempt to gain independence for LSFA outside of the NFF's authority.
