During a board meeting of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) in Surulere, Lagos, the Executive Board voted 5-4 in favor of suspending its Chairman, Hon. Fouad Oki. Several grounds contributed to Oki's suspension:

  1. Non-attendance at the NFF Congress without explanation or the knowledge of the LSFA Board.
  2. Unilateral change of the Association Logo without approval from the Board and the Congress.
  3. Denying the Nigerian Professional League (NPFL) A1 Camera delegates access to test-run the A1 camera before the league's commencement.
  4. Complete disregard for NFF instructions regarding NPFL rules and regulations, particularly concerning branding and match streaming by Sporting Lagos FC, an affiliate.
  5. Unauthorized release of match day logistics for the 2023/2024 NNL SEASON to NNL Clubs.
  6. Strained relations with the Lagos State Sports Commission over facility usage, damaging a previously positive relationship.
  7. Delaying and canceling several youth tournaments, recreational football, and threatening teams to move out of Lagos.
  8. Initiating an attempt to gain independence for LSFA outside of the NFF's authority.
It was also reported that following his suspension, Oki physically attacked and slapped his vice-chairman, Hajji Gafar Liameed, in the presence of security officers, including the DS
