A 14-year-old girl in Lagos was allegedly impregnated by her stepfather and his friend. The suspects, aged 38 and 30, were arrested after the victim’s mother reported the crime. Police are investigating, and the case will be prosecuted.

In a shocking incident in Lagos, Nigeria, a 38-year-old man, Samuel Alfred, and his 30-year-old friend, Ikechukwu Obi, were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The victim, Samuel’s stepdaughter, was discovered to be nine months pregnant by her mother, Deborah, who immediately reported the crime to the police.

The arrests took place on February 24, 2025, after Deborah lodged a formal complaint. During interrogation, Samuel confessed to the crime and implicated his friend, Ikechukwu, revealing that both men had been involved in the repeated abuse of the teenager. The case has since been transferred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja for further investigation.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspects would be charged to court once the investigation is concluded. The victim, now in advanced stages of pregnancy, is receiving medical and psychological support.

This case has sparked outrage and renewed calls for stronger measures to protect minors from sexual violence in Nigeria. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has emphasized the need for community vigilance and prompt reporting of such crimes to ensure justice for victims.

Authorities are urging parents and guardians to be more vigilant and educate children on personal safety. The case serves as a grim reminder of the prevalence of gender-based violence and the urgent need for systemic reforms to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
