Nigerian singer Portable remains in police custody after failing to meet bail conditions over alleged refusal to pay N14 million debt for G-Wagon purchase.
Nigerian singer Portable's legal troubles continue to mount as he remains in police custody after failing to meet the bail conditions set for his release. The street musician, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, was arrested earlier this week over allegations of refusing to pay a N14 million debt incurred while purchasing a G-Wagon from a car dealer in Lagos State.
According to the Lagos State Police Command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, Portable has yet to produce a reliable surety, a prerequisite for being granted bail. "He has presented no reliable surety yet, so he (Portable) is still with us," Hundeyin stated.
The singer's ongoing detention highlights the seriousness of the charges against him and the legal implications of failing to meet the bail requirements. As Portable remains behind bars, concerns are growing about the potential impact on his music career and public image, particularly given his history of controversies.
