Former Super Eagles star Taye Taiwo has been inducted into Olympique Marseille’s Club of Legends, honoring his impact at the French club. The ex-left-back, who won Ligue 1 and domestic cups, made 271 appearances for Marseille before moving to AC Milan. Fans celebrate his legacy in Nigerian football history.

Former Super Eagles left-back Taye Taiwo has been honored with an induction into Olympique Marseille’s Club of Legends, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the French club.

Taiwo played for Marseille between 2005 and 2011, making 271 appearances, scoring 25 goals, and recording 23 assists. During his time at the club, he won Ligue 1, the Coupe de la Ligue, and the French Super Cup. His powerful left foot and defensive prowess made him a fan favorite and a key figure in the team’s success.

After leaving Marseille, Taiwo played for top European clubs, including AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers, and Dynamo Kyiv. His career saw him travel across various leagues, making a mark wherever he played.

On the international stage, Taiwo earned 54 caps for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, between 2004 and 2011, scoring five goals. His performances contributed to Nigeria’s campaigns in several African Cup of Nations tournaments and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He retired from professional football in 2019.

Marseille’s Club of Legends includes several football icons such as Samir Nasri, Mamadou Niang, and Paulo Cezar. Taiwo’s inclusion in this elite group cements his legacy as one of the most influential players in the club’s history.
