Kylian Mbappé has been selected for the FIFPro World XI for 2024, despite facing a challenging campaign this year. The French forward made it into the prestigious team, voted by over 21,000 professional footballers worldwide. Mbappé was joined by several of his Real Madrid teammates, including Dani Carvajal, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and Antonio Rüdiger.
The inclusion of Bellingham, who received the most votes, highlights his impressive performances this season. Additionally, former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, who retired after the 2023-2024 season, also made the list. The reigning UEFA Champions League winner, Real Madrid, had the most players in the World XI with six. Manchester City followed with four representatives, including the current Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, along with Ederson, Erling Haaland, and Kevin De Bruyne.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi, who had been part of the World XI for 17 consecutive years, was notably absent this time, marking the first time he has missed out since 2006. In goal, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez was narrowly edged out by Ederson. Mbappé was the only French player named in the men's World XI, while PSG women's goalkeeper Mary Earps represented France on the women's side.
