Liverpool stormed into the EFL Cup final after a dominant 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final second leg at Anfield, securing a 4-1 aggregate win.
Spurs had edged the first leg in London with a late goal from Lucas Bergvall, but Liverpool responded emphatically at home. Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Yves Bissouma.
Early in the second half, Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky fouled Darwin Nunez in the box, allowing Mohamed Salah to convert from the penalty spot, doubling Liverpool’s lead.
Dominik Szoboszlai extended the advantage in the 75th minute after receiving a precise pass from Conor Bradley, finishing coolly past Kinsky. Virgil van Dijk sealed the win five minutes later with a powerful header from an Alexis Mac Allister corner.
Liverpool will now face Newcastle United in the final at Wembley on March 16. Newcastle reached the final after defeating Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate.
