Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate, has been named a person of interest in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan. Mangione was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania after an employee recognized him and alerted local authorities. He was found with multiple IDs, including one matching the identity used by the suspect to check into a New York City hostel.

During his arrest, Mangione had a firearm, a suppressor, and a handwritten document, which authorities are calling a manifesto. The document reportedly provides insight into his mindset, with authorities noting that it expressed disdain for corporate America but did not mention threats to other individuals. Police also discovered that Mangione’s weapon was a ghost gun, a firearm assembled from parts using a 3D printer.

Despite the arrest, investigations continue to explore his full involvement in Thompson’s death. Mangione, who earned a computer science degree and a master’s in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, has social media profiles indicating he resides in Philadelphia.

Authorities are still determining whether Mangione acted alone in the tragic incident.
