The hunters, traveling in a truck, were reportedly mistaken for kidnappers and killed by a vigilante group. Yusuf assured that 14 suspects had been arrested and called for strong security measures to prevent retaliatory violence. He also praised President Tinubu for directing security agencies to ensure justice. Governor Okpebholo, in response, described the killings as barbaric and reassured that security forces were actively pursuing those responsible.
