The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has initiated the posting and redeployment of 40 senior police officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police.
This move, approved by the Police Service Commission, aims to create a professionally competent, service-driven, rule of law-compliant, and people-friendly police force. The reshuffling reflects the recent elevation of senior officers to their next ranks. Notable AIG postings include Ogundele Ayodeji to Zone 7 Abuja, Patrick Edung to Zone 11 Osogbo, and Badru Lawal to Border Patrol FHQ. Commissioners of Police were also appointed to various states and specialized units.
The IG emphasized the importance of entrenching professionalism and diligent policing services and urged officers to collaborate with stakeholders for effective community-oriented policing.
