Lagos State has announced a 110-day traffic diversion plan for the Oworonshoki Bridge repairs, starting May 6 and ending September 23. The rehabilitation will occur in eight phases, affecting both inbound and outbound lanes. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to minimize disruptions.
  • Phase 1–4 (May 6 – July 14): Inbound lanes from Oworonshoki to the Third Mainland Bridge will undergo repairs.
  • Phase 5–8 (July 15 – September 23): The outbound lanes from the Third Mainland Bridge to Oworonshoki will be addressed.
  • Alternative Routes: Motorists can circumvent the closures by using Ikorodu Road, Ojota Slip Road, and Maryland.
  • Traffic Management: Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to manage traffic flow and assist commuters.

This extensive repair project aims to enhance the structural integrity of the Oworonshoki Bridge, a critical artery connecting the mainland to Lagos Island. While the closure may cause significant traffic delays, the long-term benefits of a safer and more reliable bridge are paramount. Commuters are encouraged to plan their routes and allow extra travel time during this period.
