Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called on protesters to exercise their right to protest peacefully and refrain from destroying government properties. Speaking at the Grand Finale of the Ibadan Cultural Festival 2024, organized by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Makinde stressed the importance of peaceful protests to avoid diverting resources from essential projects to repair damages. He emphasized his administration's progress with state funds and urged protesters to respect government properties.

Makinde also highlighted his administration's achievements, thanking God for the progress. He addressed requests from the Chief Imam’s representative, including the upgrade of Ibadan Airport, which has received approval from Abuja. A team will be inaugurated next Tuesday to oversee the upgrade, with groundbreaking expected within six weeks. Makinde promised that a new international-standard airport would be ready for Ibadan and Oyo State within 18 months.
