The Niger State Police Command has apprehended Abdullahi Garba for housebreaking and stealing 33 wrappers valued at ₦1 million. The arrest, announced by Commissioner of Police Ahawulu Danmamman during a briefing on December 12, 2024, followed a routine operation by the Bosso Division's Operation Flush patrol team.
On November 29, 2024, around 10:30 AM, officers stopped a tricycle at Imrat Junction, Bosso, during a routine search. Among the four passengers, Garba was found with a sack containing ten new wrappers. When questioned, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the items, prompting his arrest for further investigation.
During interrogation, Garba admitted to breaking into a residence in Maitumbi on November 24, 2024, while the homeowner was attending church. He confessed to stealing 33 wrappers worth approximately ₦1 million. The police traced the victim, who confirmed that her home had been burgled, with over 60 wrappers stolen through a window.
The police successfully recovered part of the stolen items and charged Garba to court for prosecution. CP Danmamman commended his officers for their vigilance and urged the public to remain security-conscious, especially during the festive period.
