Manchester City’s Ruben Dias is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a muscular injury, confirmed by manager Pep Guardiola. This setback follows a disappointing run of form for City, who have won just one of their last 11 games. John Stones and Manuel Akanji have returned to training.
Manchester City’s defensive lineup has been dealt another blow as Ruben Dias is set to miss up to four weeks due to a muscular injury. The news was confirmed by City manager Pep Guardiola during his pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to face Aston Villa on Saturday.
Guardiola revealed that Dias felt discomfort after playing 75 minutes in the recent derby against Manchester United, but his strength and determination led him to stay on the pitch despite the injury. “Ruben Dias will be out for three or four weeks. It’s muscular,” Guardiola explained.
The injury setback comes at a challenging time for City, who have struggled with consistency, winning just one of their last 11 games. However, Guardiola expressed confidence in his team’s ability to recover. "I handle good moments and I handle bad ones… I know we can get a good result and see the team coming back, and that is what we want to do,” said the manager.
The good news for City is the return of defenders Manuel Akanji and John Stones to training, both of whom had previously been sidelined with injuries. Guardiola noted that while their return is a boost, it’s still uncertain whether they will feature in Saturday’s match as they have only just resumed training.
With key defensive players unavailable, Guardiola’s side will need to dig deep and find a way to turn their fortunes around in the coming weeks.
