Manchester City set a new Champions League unbeaten record with a 5-0 win over Sparta Prague, extending their streak to 26 matches and surpassing Manchester United’s previous record of 25. Erling Haaland’s double and goals from Foden, Stones, and Nunes secured the historic victory.

Manchester City made Champions League history by defeating Sparta Prague 5-0, extending their unbeaten run to 26 matches, surpassing Manchester United’s previous record of 25 games. United’s record, achieved under Sir Alex Ferguson, spanned from 2007 to 2009 and featured their 2008 Champions League win. City’s latest achievement dethrones their rivals, who had held the record for 15 years.

Erling Haaland led the charge for City, scoring twice, with Phil Foden, John Stones, and Matheus Nunes also contributing to the scoreline. Haaland’s stunning backheeled volley, followed by a second goal, increased his Champions League tally to 44 goals, reinforcing his status as a key figure in the competition.

City’s last defeat in the Champions League came during the 2021–22 season, against Real Madrid in the semi-finals. However, a penalty shootout loss to Madrid last season doesn't count towards their unbeaten streak, as the match ended in a 1–1 draw after extra time.

With the Champions League unbeaten record now theirs, Pep Guardiola’s side will focus on their upcoming Premier League fixture against Southampton, aiming to maintain their form as they chase a fifth consecutive domestic league title.
