Manchester City ended 2024 with a 2-0 win over Leicester City, with goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland. Kevin De Bruyne impressed with two assists, while Haaland’s header sealed the win. Guardiola celebrated his 500th game in charge, but City’s defensive issues remain a concern.

Manchester City secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, ending 2024 on a positive note after a challenging run. Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland gave Pep Guardiola's side the win, with Savinho scoring his first goal since joining the club.

City took the lead when Savinho reacted quickest to Phil Foden’s shot that was parried by Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk. Leicester responded strongly in the second half, with Jamie Vardy hitting the post and Manuel Akanji clearing a shot off the line. Haaland sealed the victory with a header from Savinho's cross, marking his return to form with a well-taken goal.

City’s performance was far from flawless, with defensive issues still apparent, particularly from Josko Gvardiol and Manuel Akanji, though the latter made key interventions. Kevin De Bruyne was the standout performer, contributing to both goals and showing his class with incisive passes.

Despite a mixed performance, City secured their second win in 14 matches across all competitions, providing much-needed relief as they look to build momentum for the new year. Guardiola will be pleased with the result, but City’s defensive vulnerabilities remain a concern as they head into 2025.
