Kylian Mbappe admits to a difficult start at Real Madrid, taking full responsibility for his poor form after missing another penalty in a 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao. The star forward vows to bounce back amid criticism, with Madrid maintaining faith in his ability to deliver.

Kylian Mbappe has openly acknowledged his challenging transition to Real Madrid following another disappointing performance in the club’s 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao. The French forward, who joined Madrid in a blockbuster summer move, missed a crucial penalty, marking his second spot-kick failure in a week.

Bilbao's goalkeeper, Julen Agirrezabala, saved Mbappe's penalty when Madrid trailed by a single goal. Later, a golden opportunity to equalize slipped through Mbappe’s grasp as his lackluster shot, set up by Jude Bellingham, was easily handled. The defeat leaves Madrid four points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona, raising concerns about the team’s title defense.

Addressing his struggles on Instagram, Mbappe wrote, “Bad result. A big mistake in a match where every detail counts. I take full responsibility. It’s a tough period, but I’ll use this time to prove who I am.”

Despite his poor form, Real Madrid remains confident in Mbappe’s ability to deliver. Manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club’s hierarchy are optimistic about the French captain rediscovering his brilliance. Meanwhile, his arrival has forced adjustments in the lineup, with Jude Bellingham moving to a deeper role but still contributing goals.

Midfielder Federico Valverde also faced criticism for his costly mistake leading to Bilbao’s second goal. Apologizing post-match, Valverde said, “I take the blame and apologize to my teammates and fans. There’s a long season ahead, and I’m determined to bounce back.”

Mbappe's start at Madrid may be rocky, but both the player and the club remain committed to overcoming the challenges ahead.
