The Nigerian military has declared an all-out operation against notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Bello Turji following the brutal killing of 12 farmers in Lugu town, Sokoto State.
Turji, a feared leader of armed groups responsible for attacks across northern Nigeria, launched the deadly assault while returning from a Sallah visit. His latest act of violence has intensified calls for decisive military action.
At a press briefing in Abuja, Major-General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, assured Nigerians that Turji’s days were numbered. He reaffirmed that security forces remain committed to tracking and eliminating high-profile criminals. Kangye dismissed claims that military operations against terrorists and cattle rustlers had been scaled down, citing recent successful interceptions and neutralization of insurgents.
The military also addressed concerns about Niger Republic’s withdrawal from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), warning of security implications. Kangye stressed the importance of regional cooperation in fighting terrorism and preventing security lapses.
Additionally, he reassured the public that injured soldiers were not being neglected, affirming the military’s commitment to their welfare. Security agencies have now intensified their pursuit of Turji, aiming to bring an end to his reign of terror.
