Minister Ayodele Olawande supports Seyi Tinubu's bid for Lagos governor, stating he is qualified and not too young for the role. Olawande emphasizes Seyi's leadership skills and commitment to youth development, reinforcing the endorsement by youth groups. He also clarifies that Seyi is not behind the campaign.

In an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, expressed support for Seyi Tinubu, declaring that he is well-qualified to become the next governor of Lagos State. Olawande emphasized that Seyi, the son of President Bola Tinubu, is not "too young" for the role, pointing to his experience and commitment to youth development. The Minister highlighted that Seyi has been actively involved in empowering young Nigerians, even before his father assumed office, and has consistently demonstrated leadership skills.

Olawande also clarified that Seyi is not behind the movement endorsing him for governor, noting that the campaign was driven by various youth groups. In November 2024, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) endorsed Seyi Tinubu as a candidate to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. According to Olawande, Seyi’s hard work and dedication to the youth prove that he can lead Lagos.

The Minister further stressed that Seyi’s efforts toward youth development should not be overshadowed by his father’s political position, as he has been a mentor and role model to many.

With this backing from government officials, Seyi Tinubu’s prospects for political leadership in Lagos are gaining momentum as his reputation for empowering young people continues to rise.
