The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, affirmed that the airstrip license granted to Living Faith Church (Winners' Chapel) will not be revoked. Addressing concerns raised by the House of Representatives, Keyamo emphasized that the church adhered to all legal processes and clarified regulations for private airstrips in Nigeria.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has stated that the license granted to Living Faith Church, also known as Winners' Chapel, will remain intact and will not be revoked. Keyamo addressed the issue during an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘This Morning’ program on Sunday.
This statement comes after the House of Representatives called for the revocation of licenses issued to private individuals and organizations, including the church, citing concerns over national security. Keyamo, however, defended the decision, affirming that the church had followed all required legal procedures before the airstrip approval. He emphasized that the church had not violated any terms or regulations in securing the license.
According to Keyamo, the legal process for the approval of the airstrip took over a year and involved thorough scrutiny. He further explained that the Constitution prohibits discrimination against any Nigerian, and as such, revoking the license would be unjustified, as the church had adhered to all rules.
The Minister also clarified that flying from a private airstrip in Nigeria does not allow for direct international flights. Any private airstrip-bound flight must first land at an international airport where passengers are processed before continuing to their final destination. Keyamo’s comments aim to reassure the public that all actions taken with regard to the airstrip were in full compliance with Nigerian laws.
