The Federal Government, led by the Ministry of Interior, has officially launched an online passport application portal, streamlining the process for Nigerians applying for passports.

The initiative, declared by Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims for a fully automated system with a 99% completion status. The online application allows for 32-page passports with a five-year validity at N35,000 and 64-page passports with a 10-year validity at N70,000 for Nigerian applicants.

Foreign applicants are required to pay $130 for a five-year, 32-page passport and $230 for a 10-year, 64-page passport.

To apply, individuals can visit the online portal, enter their NIN and date of birth, complete required data, upload passport photos and supporting documents, and then visit the nearest Immigration Office for biometric capture.

The simplified process promises passport readiness within two weeks, marking a significant advancement in passport application procedures
