Thomas Olamide, one of the protesters arrested during the #EndSARS commemoration at Lekki tollgate on Sunday, has alleged that part of his money went missing after being released. He claimed to have had ₦25,000 in his wallet but found only ₦9,500 upon release.
The protest was held in memory of the October 20, 2020, shooting by soldiers, which resulted in deaths, according to witnesses, though the military and government denied the killings. The police dispersed the crowd and arrested several protesters, who were later released on the orders of Lagos Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola. Olamide noted that while no physical harm occurred during their detention, some valuables were not returned.
The Lagos police have yet to comment on the missing items.
