President Bola Tinubu is set to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, marking an important diplomatic moment in the relationship between Nigeria and India.
Prime Minister Modi's visit, which will begin with his arrival on Saturday, holds particular significance as it is the first time an Indian prime minister will visit Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s state visit in 2007. This visit comes after the two countries formalized a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering their bilateral ties.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the two leaders are expected to engage in high-level talks aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between Nigeria and India. These discussions are set to focus on advancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, technology, infrastructure, and other vital sectors.
During the visit, President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) that are expected to further enhance collaboration between the two nations. The agreements are anticipated to be a significant step forward in solidifying the strategic partnership and expanding areas of mutual benefit for both countries.
