A Lagos court has cleared Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Primeboy of involvement in Mohbad’s death, following a DPP review. However, the nurse who treated Mohbad, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and his friend, Ayobami Sadiq, will face prosecution for negligence. The case continues amid public scrutiny.

A Lagos Magistrate Court has ruled that singer Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, and artist Primeboy are not responsible for the death of late musician Mohbad. The court presided over by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, adopted the findings of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), which stated that there was no case against them.

The verdict also extended to Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, who was also cleared of any wrongdoing. However, the court determined that the nurse who treated Mohbad, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, along with the singer’s friend, Ayobami Sadiq, would face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts. The charges, based on Section 251 (e) of Lagos State’s Criminal Law, will be pursued in a Magistrate Court.

Mohbad’s death in September 2023 sparked widespread controversy, with many fans and celebrities calling for justice. Initial allegations suggested foul play, leading to the arrest of several individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry. However, after months of investigation, the DPP concluded that there was no evidence linking them to Mohbad’s untimely death.

The ruling brings a significant turn to the case, though public reactions remain mixed. While some supporters of the accused welcome the decision, others believe further investigations are needed. Meanwhile, the prosecution of Ogedengbe and Sadiq is expected to shed more light on the events leading to Mohbad’s tragic passing.
